Dexter is a jawdropping American drama series which me and Pigeon was late to watch. However, sometimes it’s best off having a lot available to watch for hours on end rather than just an episode at a time. When Pigeon introduced me to this series I thought it was going to be one of those weird movies that he’s into but it wasn’t. This is the perfect series for people who love gruesome and mystery type viewing pleasures. In this you can see Dexter who’s the main character go through some hard choices in life and the solutions to his problems which he thought he can deal with but realizes it’s tougher than he thought. He’s a serial killer who works for the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood spatter analyst. This series is meant for viewers mature +up due to the scenes of nudity and language, not to mention all the bloodiness. Still haven’t finished up the series just yet but the way that it’s going i’ll be running out of nails since it’s a nail biter (literally).
Also known as “Nalnari Jong Bujeon” and “A Daughter In-law Story”
This movie had comedy and romance genres. From the beginning of the movie I thought this was going to be one of those storylines like “Soulmate” another good korean drama, but it wasn’t. The plot is about this girl (Starring Jung Ah Park) who is spoiled rotten “born with a silver platter handed” to her who guys go absolutely gaga after. She finally meets her match with this one guy (Starring Jin Woo Park) who had no interest in her whatsoever up until later. Soon after she changes her surroundings from the city to the country life, she goes through many hardships after she realizes what true love really is instead of just playing the hearbreaking games.
This drama was a pack full of laughter and sorrow in one. Even though this was released in the year 2005 it was very much worth while to watch. I think this is the first drama to actually have everything from comedy, romance, drama, love triangle, death, office jobs, one sided crushes, gold digger ideas, and even a musical in each episode. The plot is about different forms of couples coming together in strange ways while of course having interferences through their path. The ever infamous main character starring Soo Yoo Jin not knowing that she has been loved behind her blind heart through the roller coaster ride they both go through together and apart. Although this drama kind of reminded me of the movie “Grease”(1978) starring John Travolta having the musicals played while performing their parts with a love life that just couldn’t be.
A musical snippet from “The Bean Chaff of my Life”
From one of my favorite musical “Grease” movie. The korean drama had a part which was very similar to this one
This korean movie had everything…romance/drama/comedy. Although I thought this was going to be more of a comedy it turns out I was balling my eyes out. I hope that this movie touches your heart, whoever sees it because it really did for me. This elder brother who gets mentally challenged in the past but always takes care of his younger sister even though she had a disgusted hatred towards him. An old childhood friend comes back after 10 years from studying abroad and he makes her remember how close they were. He has a bestfriend who always took care of him maybe from guilt of what happened but gives up so much later. It’s amazing how some people can be so dedicated even after losing so many things and living the way they do. The only thing they did which I thought could’ve been better was that not everything as explained towards the end, it left me hanging but it’s okay because the movie overall was quite moving.
The ever popular korean movie “My Sassy Girl” which has the genre of comedy and romance was a big hit when everyone started spreading the news out. I guess the news got so far that they decided to come out with an American version of it. I have recently watched this and it isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be since it is indeed a direct copycat with a bit of a few differences here and there. The hit song “I Believe” is what made the movie noticeable for the original in my opinion. Also in the korean one they made the girl more violent in plenty of the scenes and yet in the american she seemed more classy yet just a drunk. Overall I think it was an okay movie but I still say the original is the best.
Bigger Stronger Faster is a documentary about people who use and abuse steroids. Even popular actors that people considered to be their heroes also used it. I always admired Arnold Schwarzenegger, I wanted to be as big as Arnold. We are both the same height 6′2 but of course not the same built but I figured with a lot of work I could be like him big and natural. Of course that’s what I thought he was “natural”. It turns out Arnold Schwarzenegger has been taking steroids since he was 19, how depressing is that? A lot of great athletes and movies stars has also been taking steroids for many many years. After watching this documentary I couldn’t help myself but to lose total respect for Arnold and many other so called great body builders / athletes / actors. This documentary is definitely an eye opener to anyone who wants to be as big as their heroes. To some it may also be bad because you may say “Hey if he took steroids, maybe I should too”. I don’t advise anyone to take steroids. People can still get big without it but it will take time. It’s not worth cheating, in the end you will be looked upon as a cheater and not a role model.
Firefly has to be one of the BEST Sci Fi series I have ever seen. I got introduced into the series in a rather bad way. I was flipping channels on my tv when i came upon this movie that was just starting called “Serenity”. Most of the time i didn’t know what the heck they were talking about (reavers, the alliance..etc). At the end of the movie I went on my computer and wanted to know more information about Serenity. That’s when I came to find out that the movie Serenity was actually part of a television series called Firefly. I was so upset, If i had known i would of seen the whole series first and THEN watch Serenity. My beautiful girlfriend actually surprised me with the Firefly DVD Collection one day.
I have probably watched this series over 20 times already and still I am not bored of it. The series sure reminds me a lot of an anime I also watched called Cowboy Bebop. The sad news about this series is that FOX decided to cancel it after only 11 episodes that was aired. Not only did FOX cancel the series but they also screwed up the order in which the series was supposed to take place for example episode 2 (The train Job) became the pilot introduction in TV. I really think FOX made a HUGE MISTAKE canceling the series for some other crap show. I sometimes tell my girlfriend if I ever become really rich or master my skills in 3D movie making i will continue where the series ended. That’s with the permission of Joss Whedon of course, the creator of firefly :)!
People have been signing a petition to continue the firefly series online. You can sign your name into the petition here [Firefly Petition Form]
I HIGHLY recommend this series to anyone and please don’t make the same mistake I did with watching the movie first. :’(
The movie “Hackers” (1995 v) was exaggerated but a great movie to watch if your into cyberpunk movies. My boyfriend is a huge fan of it and when we were watching this today he told me that’s what it was. I was puzzled. I was more puzzled on the fact that the lead girl in the movie was Angelina Jolie. It didn’t even look like her! The leading couple even got married in real life for 3 years and then divorced like any other celebrity couples out there. They talk about this 11 year old boy who was shown from the start of the movie that was charged with crashing 1,507 systems causing the stock market to crash 7 points in 1 day. That’s pretty impressive for such a youngster. He gets convicted till he’s 18. He groups up with fellow hackers like himself when he moved from Seattle to NYC. Lastly there’s a hidden virus that goes around that had outrageous rewards to it if it was a successful procedure.
A korean movie called ‘Beautiful” is about a girl who is simply irresistible to all men. She is showered with bouquets of flowers and letters. The phone calls never stop ringing as well. She soon learns that being drop dead gorgeous can be a not so fun matter. The footages in this film was quite disturbing to watch but it was an interesting factor about the stages of how one feels after getting raped. She goes from being bulimic to anorexic due to a stalker. The ending should be a controversial issue to be even included in this heap of a movie. This makes me wonder, is this why some celebrities out there get so anorexic all the time or they just want to be their own form of beautiful? In the film anorexia was used for just the opposite reason, to get rid of her beauty.
What’s so great about being skinny anyway? To this cow it’s not even appealing is it?
